In the most recent addition to our Hair Loss Library — a database of reviews and summaries of scientific articles related to hair loss and hair restoration — we reviewed and discussed an article on Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for hair loss written by HTW members Dr. Paul Rose and Dr. Aron Nusbaum. In the article, which was originally published in the ISHRS Forum International Journal, Drs. Rose and Nusbaum examined both the efficacy of PRP therapy for hair loss and compared the available PRP preparation systems. This review is important not only because it tests and evaluates a commonly used non-surgical hair restoration treatment, but also because it looks at the different ways in which it can be prepared and helps identify which preparation system may produce the best PRP.
Because the article was so interesting and timely, Dr. Alan Feller and I — Dr. Blake Bloxham — asked Dr. Rose to do a “Skype” interview to discuss the article, his findings, and his general thoughts on PRP and how it may be beneficial for patients.
